Assistive Technology Services

Assistive Technology has remarkable power to bridge gaps for people with disabilities. LiveLife Therapy Solutions, Inc. provides a wide range of assistive technology (AT) services related to Environmental Controls, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Safety, Mobility, and Home Modification Needs. We do both assessment and training in a person’s own environment such as their home, work, school, or community. We deliver customized services with a person-centered focus. AT is our passion.

LiveLife Therapy Solutions believes there are three components to effective utilization of AT:
Effective Assessment * Proper Set Up * Thorough Training

An NIH study in 1993 showed that 30% of assistive technology equipment is completely abandoned. LLTS conducts follow-up surveys at six months and 12 months, and nearly 100% of the people for whom we complete assessments, set up, and training are still using the equipment we recommended. All three components are critical.

What is AT

Assistive Technology (AT) is defined by the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) as any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a person with disabilities. The important thing about AT is not just finding a device that will work, but finding the right device that will be used on an ongoing basis. We excel at working with people to find the right solution for them, and providing the necessary training so they can use that solution successfully.
