Assistive Technology can help people meet their goals at work and school:
LiveLife Therapy Solutions had an Innovation Grant from the Department of Human Services from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026, to provide Assistive Technology assessments and training for individuals with disabilities throughout the state who are seeking competitive employment. The information contained here is a product of the services provided.
All of the strategies and equipment discussed below were used with one or more of the individuals we worked to support their employment or education goals. There is an attachment at the bottom of this page that includes all of the items shown below and more along with links to where they are available.
Workspace Layout & Monitors
Desk equipment and screen setups to help with posture, body comfort, and clear visibility.

Mounting Devices
- Podany’s Adjustable Desk -A high-quality motorized desk that moves up and down for ideal physical access and wheelchair positioning.
- Ergotron LX Pro Monitor Mount – Durable, adjustable computer monitor mount that allows for flexible positioning.
- Gooseneck Microphone – A desktop microphone with a flexible neck that improves voice clarity for communication and voice control.
- SmallRig Device Mount – An adjustable arm that holds small items like switches and controls right where you need them.
- Comfort Mouse Pads – A cushioned mousepad that supports the wrist during computer use.
Hands-Free Computer Interfaces
Specialized controls for people who cannot use their hands. These devices allow complete control of a computer using head or mouth movements.
- QuadStick FPS Controller – A mouth-operated joystick mouse. It uses gentle sip-and-puff breathing and lip movements to replace a standard mouse or keyboard.
- QuadStick Flexible Arm Mount – A bendable desk mount that holds the QuadStick securely in front of the user.
- GlassOuse Head Mouse – A head-worn mouse that translates head movements to mouse movement.
- Tobii Dynanox PCEye – The PCEye is an alternative mouse that allows individuals to control their computer using only their eyes.

Adaptive Switches, Alternative Mice & Programmable Controls
This category includes alternative keyboards, ergonomic and alternative mice, and programmable buttons that help individuals with limited hand movement to use computers in a way that best supports their positioning and access needs.
- Microsoft Adaptive Hub – A wireless hub used to link custom accessibility buttons to a computer. These buttons can be used to trigger complex actions like opening programs, performing keyboard shortcuts, moving the mouse, and more.
- Microsoft Adaptive Joystick – A small joystick that connects to the Microsoft Adaptive Hub and can be used as a mouse. Custom 3D-printed handles can be added for an easier grip.
- Easy-Swipe Wobble Switch – a flexible wand switch that clicks when pushed from any direction. Good for performing clicks with the Microsoft Adaptive Hub or X-Keys devices.
- Light-Touch Micro Switch – A small, highly sensitive button that requires very little force to click. Good for performing clicks with the Microsoft Adaptive Hub or X-Keys devices.
- Contour RollerMouse Pro – A mouse bar that sits directly in front of the keyboard. It has a roller bar that can help reduce wrist, hand, and arm strain.
- Clevy Large-Key Keyboard – A keyboard with large, color-coded keys that are easy to see and press.
- Mini Ergonomic Touchpad – A miniature touchpad mouse that is beneficial for individuals with reduced hand and finger movement.

- Plaud Note AI Recorder – A smart audio recorder that automatically types out written summaries and transcripts of voice recordings.
- Rocketbook Smart Notebook – A reusable notebook that lets you scan handwritten notes directly to a phone or computer.
- Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses – Voice-activated glasses with a built-in AI assistant for hands-free tasks and image capture. Compatible with various low vision apps (Be My Eyes, Seeing AI, etc.) to help with object recognition, reading and descriptions.

- Guided Hands Stabilizer – A mechanical arm guide that balances the hand to make writing, drawing, or using touchscreens easier for individuals with fine motor control deficits.

Environmental Controls
Smart blinds, light bulbs, light switches, plugs. Useful for controlling lights and other things in the work environment without need for assistance.
- Third Reality Smart Light Switch – Smart light switch that is Zigbee connection that allows for hands-free use of a light switch connected via smart assistant/speaker with smart home hub.
- Third Reality Smart Plug – Smart plug that is Zigbee connection that allows for hands-free use of an outlet (i.e. lamp, fan) connected via smart assistant/speaker with smart home hub.
